HouseKeeping Notes

A couple of notes for us.
1. In sad recognition of yet another anniversary of Roe v Wade, Pro Life is going to host the Rosary/Adoration for Friday-Saturday,8-9 in January 2010. I am going to put the signup sheet for Rosary leaders in the chapel on Wednesday. Email me and let me know if you want a specific time slot. Please consider leading a Holy Rosary for the Unborn and the conversion of abortionists.

2. We will not meet again until January 6,2010 in our usual room in the St. Joseph's Center

3. Please consider a trip to Nashville to pray in front of the abortion clinic on 419 Welshwood Drive. It is a powerful experience. When I was there last week, I was told they will be performing abortions right up til Christmas eve...

4. I added some more pro-life blogs to our reading list. I hope you will find some time to check them out.

5. Have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and a marvelous New Year!

Senator Nelson (D) has his 30 Pieces of Silver

You've gotta stand for something or you will fall for anything. Thats a line in a country song which came to mind when I heard the news from Father David on Sunday morning. So, Senator Nelson has his 30 pieces of silver. Is it uncharitable to hope that it hangs like a millstone around the neck of what is left of his political career?

"Lincoln----Nebraska Right to Life and pro-life Nebraskans have been betrayed by Senator Ben Nelson's agreement with Democratic leadership to become their 60th vote for cloture on the Senate healthcare bill, propped up by abortion compromise language which in no way resembles the Stupak amendment in the House bill or the Nelson/Hatch amendment attempt in the Senate. Both of those amendments had protections against taxpayer funding of abortion."

We aren't going to give up--there is still the reconcilliation process.

Catholic Nurse Forced to Participate in Abortion

This is a horrible, terrible, story. I fear cases such as this will only increase as the Obama administration becomes more bold as the days go by with out any real challenges from the legal system. I struggle not to judge this nurse for not walking out--I know what I think I would do in this situation, but none of us really can know until we are faced with the decision.

It is my guess however, if this nurse did walk out and the director did follow through with her threats to charge her with patient abandonment I feel certain the pro-life groups around the nation would rally to her side and provide her with legal assistance.

Two nauseating points: While any abortion is horrible, it is particularly gruesome that this was an abortion done on a 22 weeks old baby. 22 weeks. This is what a 22weeks old baby looks like

The second is this: this hospital knew of the nurses pro-life position when they hired her in 2004 and her position was respected until now--which leads me to my usual worst case scenario---was this another test run to see what the reaction would be in the pro-life community if this nurse was forced to particpate? Given the current political climate against Christians and pro-lifers, I would not be at all surprised.

I will try to post updates when possible. Stay tuned for this one. Read more at HotAir

Who are you Harry Reid

As the Senate continues to churn out the health care legislation, Senator Harry Reid is coming under even more pressure from both Pro life advocates and Pro Abortion advocates. The time is fast approaching when he will have to choose, good or evil. Yes, it truly is as simple as that.
Pray for Harry Reid as well as the rest of our Senators. Pray that God will lift the scales from their eyes and they will see abortion for the evil that it truly is and will turn away from doing evil and support the cause of life.

From the Susan B Anthony List:
Time for Senator Reid to Decide Who He is:A Pro-Life Senator, or Someone Willing to Play Politics with Human Life?

Washington – Yesterday CNS News published a constituent letter signed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). In the letter, intended for citizens who voice objections to the inclusion of abortion in the Senate version of health care reform, Reid reaffirms his stated opposition to abortion: “I noted your specific comments related to health care reform and abortion. I oppose abortion except in the cases of rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is at risk.” Yet Reid does not assure readers he would support an authentic exclusion of government-funded abortion from health care reform, in the manner of the Stupak amendment that recently passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In response, Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following statement:
“Senator Reid is a man divided. He needs to decide who he is. Is Reid a pro-life Senator, true to his Nevada roots, who will work to protect innocent human life at every turn? Or is he a hardened Washington politico, an inside the Beltway horse-trader willing to make personal compromises for short-term political gain?
